I have been thinking about a grass seeder. I'd like to get a over seeder so I don't have to till unless it's needed for landscaping & leveling.The problem is there about 5K, and then my 855 won't pick it up anyway. I can get a primary seeder for about 3K,I like this price alot better. So I supose useing this type of seeder as a over seeder is out of the question. So far I've been seeding yards with a tiller (shallow deepth) & following up with bed springs that I hooks to 3 point. This has worked very well, except for a few places that the springs will drag most of the seed off, due to a high points. OK guys give me your thoughs & thanks.

How about using a 3 pt spreader to apply the seed. These only cost about $400. Of course you would still need the tiller and bedsprings, so maybe this wouldn't be much help. ....

I would try a brillion grass seeder. I think what you have been looking at are overseeders and do to the fact they also do some tillage that is why you are finding them so expensive for your job. ....

I've have talked to some people that have a primary seeder. They do use this same seeder as a over seeder and get away with it. Power rake the dead stuff and set the seed rate down and go. So it sounds like most condition's will work acording to the folks I talked to. I'm stuck on landpride since there only 35 miles where there built, I can get parts very quick and brillion isn't popular where I'm located, (need parts-takes a long time). Well I bought a landpride PS1548 for $2650. plus tax. I'll go out monday afternoon to pick it up. ....

go to woodsonline and check out their lawn retovater.i've used brillions for many years to do the job you want to do,but always worked the surface with a gill or harrow first.you need loose dirt to stick the seed too.i bought a ryan mataway about 15 years ago for small jobs and liked the way it worked enough to spend the money on a gandy slit seeder for the 3 point.it did cost a little over 5k at the dealer but a l leonard has it for a little less.good luck ....
